The home of rice is tropical Asia. Rice is one of the most important cereals in the world and feeds almost half of the world. The most valuable is the natural brown rice. The white rice is already without the surface layers that contain minerals and B vitamins. In the rest of the grain, there’s a big amount of sugars and just a little amount of proteins.
The following are the main reasons why rice is so valuable:
- Rice is very easily digestible, so doesn’t cause flatulency and is therefore suitable for children or older people with gall-bladder problems.
- Rice doesn’t contain cholesterol what makes it an ideal food for people with a higher level of blood cholesterol.
- Rice doesn’t contain gluten and is therefore a suitable alimentary for people with a gluten allergy or celiac disease.
- A cup of boiled rice contains just 150 calories.
- The brown rice is an ideal food for healthy hair, nails, skin and bones thanks to the minerals and vitamins it contains.
- Consuming of rice makes your skin smoother and stronger.
- Rice contains 8 essential amino-acids. If you boil it with some legumes, you’ll get a very good source of proteins.
- Rice helps your metabolism.
- Rice helps prevent colon, breast and prostate cancer.
- Consuming of rice decreases blood pressure.
You might also hear about some brown rice detox programs which are said to be very effective as well. As you can see rice is a very easy and nutritious food for your health and if you eat it regularly, you can expect some very positive results.

Cooking as an art form

Cooking is defined as the process of food preparation through applied heat. But there so much more involved in planning, preparing, and presenting meals for your family. One thing the dictionary left out is the love that goes into the creation of that meal.
If you are someone that is rushed and overburdened by their job and settles for dashing home, throwing a TV dinner in the microwave, and sitting before the television while “dining”, you might want to take some time to learn about the fine art of cooking. It need not be fancy gourmet foods you prepare, or even require a gourmet professional kitchen in which to work your miracles of culinary delight. Feeding your family involves a little planning, researching, love, and a bit of time. Finding the time to prepare and serve healthy wholesome meals need involve no more than an hour or two from start to finish. With planning, you can even cook most of your meals on the weekend and store them in the freezer or fridge. Your family will be happy even if you only cook burgers and French fries, as long as you all sit down together and make it a family affair.
Appliances large and small
Cooking most commonly involves heat and that means an oven and a stove top with either gas or electric burners. A microwave oven is useful as are a slow cooker pot, mixer (stand and hand held), toaster, electric knife, electric skillet, food processor, and a blender.
Kitchen necessities
Pots and pans come in an assortment of sizes, depending on their intended use. Basically you will want a small non-stick skillet (6” to 8”), a larger non-stick skillet of about 10”-12”, several sizes of cooking pots from one to three quart size, and a larger pot maybe six to eight quarts for soups and chilies. These can be heavy cast aluminum or steel depending on your budget (look online for recommendations and reviews of products). If you plan on baking you will want to have a cookie sheet or two, some loaf pans, cake pans, and muffin pans (for cupcakes). Spatulas, stirring spoons, tongs, and forks should also be available to handle food as it cooks.
Spice it up
An assortment of spices will come in handy when you are cooking. Depending on what dish you are preparing, having the basics will improve flavors. Salt, Pepper, olive oil, vegetable oil, paprika, thyme, garlic powder, cloves, dry mustard, nutmeg, ginger, and celery seed are often used in recipes. Based on the nationality of your dishes, you may also want some oregano, basil, cumin, cayenne pepper, and crushed red pepper on your spice shelf. Don’t be afraid to experiment with ingredients, just go lightly to begin with because you can always add more, but seldom take away.
Pantry necessities
Items like chicken and beef broth, canned milk, tomato sauce, flour, rice, pasta, soup for cooking, and powdered buttermilk are staples everyone who cooks should have on hand.
Cook Books
An assortment of cook books or even cooking videos can be helpful and offer interesting ideas to plan meals around. Tons of recipes can also be found on the internet at no charge. Let your imagination create something original that your family will enjoy. Finally, make a list before going to the grocery store, and stick to it.
THE COLORS OF TEA

WHITE TEA is the purest tea of all, but it is a very rare kind (and expensive) and can only be found in the finest tea shops.
GREEN TEA has the reputation of being the least processed of all teas that are available in the market today. Thus, it is considered the most beneficial commercial tea, as all of its enzymes are almost intact.
BLACK TEA such as Earl Grey is tea that has undergone several processes, thus making it less beneficial that white or green tea.
Most of us automatically think of coffee shops when asked where to meet. Coffee has, in fact, already become a part of the Filipino lifestyle, most especially to those living in urban areas where people need to stay awake until the wee hours of the morning. The coffee shop boom in the metro is proof that this strong brew made from coffee beans has indeed invaded the town.
While the increasing coffee addiction might be good for our economy and to coffee growers in the country, it might not be that helpful in keeping our nation fit and healthy. So next time your friends ask you to have cup of coffee, why not answer back and say “Let’s have tea… for a change!”
WAYS TO PREPARE TEA

Apparently, there are different ways to prepare tea, and each method somehow affects the resulting flavor. When preparing tea, use your curiosity and creativity by mixing it with your other favorite drinks. Personally, I love to use honey instead of sugar. Honey, as we all know, is also gaining popularity nowadays for its health benefits, and can be used as a substitute for sugar.
You may opt to drink plain brewed tea as well. Plain tea is a bit tangy, but you can really smell its natural aroma and feel that all its substances are still intact.
You can maximize the benefits of drinking tea and get a little bonus when you mix it with certain substances. When combined with milk, tea has been found to aid in the absorption of certain nutrients.
In general, all teas are beneficial to health. However, the health benefits of tea decrease as the tea leaf undergoes production processes. Having said that, it is obvious that iced tea powders are not that beneficial compared to brewed teas since they already contain artificial flavorings and have undergone several processes. We can still however enjoy a glass of refreshing iced tea without losing out on the good stuff by putting cubes of ice in our warm tea.

Did you know? The low death rate in Japan and China can be partly attributed to the tea-drinking habit of their people. Certain regions in the two countries have lower death rates compared to other regions. Upon investigation, researchers found out that the tea-drinking habit of the people within those regions is apparently higher than the other regions with higher death rates.
THE REWARDS PLUS
Apart from the physical benefits of tea, it also offers mental and emotional rewards. The small amount of caffeine in tea boosts concentration and energy, since caffeine is known to stimulate the nervous system. Unlike with coffee, however, the content of caffeine in tea is very minimal that it does not pose a threat to one’s health.

According to Dr. Earl Mindell, the world’s leading nutritionist, master herbalist and best-selling author, these are some of the top scientifically validated reasons to drink goji juice every day.
5. PREVENT CANCER. Goji’s antioxidants and unique polysaccharides can halt the genetic mutations that can lead to cancer. Some scientists believe that goji may be an especially good supplement to prevent liver cancer because it exerts liver protection and anti-cancer effects at the same time. This is important, as the liver is the body’s primary detoxifying organ.
6. MAINTAIN HEALTHY CHOLESTEROL LEVELS. Goji’s antioxidants keep cholesterol from oxidizing and forming arterial plaques. The flavonoids in goji help to keep your arteries open and functioning smoothly.
7. PROMOTE NORMAL BLOOD SUGAR AND MANAGE DIABETES. Goji has been used in China for the treatment of adult-onset diabetes for many years, and its polysaccharides have been shown to help balance blood sugar and insulin response.
8. ENHANCE SEXUAL FUNCTION. The goji berry is revered as one of the premier sexual tonic herbs in all of Asian medicine, and is legendary for helping to spark passion. In fact, an old Chinese proverb cautions men who are traveling far from their wives and families: “He who travels one thousand kilometers from home should not eat goji!” Modern scientific studies have shown that goji markedly increases testosterone in the blood, thereby increasing libido in both men and women.

According to Dr. Earl Mindell, the world’s leading nutritionist, master herbalist and best-selling author, these are some of the top scientifically validated reasons to drink goji juice every day.
1. EXTEND YOUR LIFE. Your body’s 10 trillion cells are under constant attack by free radicals. These harmful environmental agents can accelerate aging by destroying vital body cells faster than they can be replaced. Goji is known as the “longevity fruit.” Its unique master molecule polysaccharides and powerful antioxidants defend against premature aging, fighting free-radical damage throughout the body.
2. INCREASE YOUR ENERGY AND STRENGTH. Ranked as on one of Asia’s premier adaptogens, goji increases exercise tolerance, stamina, and endurance. It helps to eliminate fatigue, especially when recovering from illness.
3. LOOK AND FEEL YOUNGER. Goji stimulates the release of the pituitary gland of hGH (human growth hormone), the youth hormone. The benefits of hGH are extensive and include reduction of body fat, better sleep, improved memory, accelerated healing, restored libido, and a more youthful appearance.
4. MAINTAIN HEALTHY BLOOD PRESSURE. Nearly one in four U.S. adults has high blood pressure (hypertension). Uncontrolled high blood pressure can lead to stroke, heart attack, heart failure or kidney failure. This is why high blood pressure is often called the “silent killer.” A 1998 research study showed that increased blood pressure could be prevented significantly by goji’s master molecule polysaccharides.

If you have already tried those diets that guarantee you lose weight quickly then you know that they do not produce permanent results. Health experts say that reducing pounds quickly is a useless task because the human body will just gain back the weight that it has lost quickly. Therefore, it would be practical to avoid any diet plan that advocates losing fat in a short period of time.
You should realize that there is no way to lose weight in a short period of time without harming your body. There are diets pills that can make you lose weight by flushing out water inside your body. This can slow your metabolism and can produce negative effects on your health. The only way to lose weight effectively is to follow a few simple rules. You should motivate yourself to do the hard work. Have a healthy diet. This means choosing the right type of foods without reducing your food intake. Exercise on a regular basis. Well, they actually work but they do not give you exactly what you want. Even health experts discourage people from getting into these types of diet plans.

However, you will quickly gain back the weight you have lost in a few weeks. So be practical and find a method that will give you long lasting results.
