Bad oral hygiene can cause more than just bad breath and decayed teeth.
Research continues to suggest the importance of good oral hygiene as related to cardiovascular health (http://www.perio.org).
Each year, cardiovascular disease kills more Americans than cancer. Most people are aware that lifestyle choices such as eating right, getting enough exercise and not smoking can help prevent cardiovascular disease But they may not know that by just brushing and flossing their teeth each day, will also prevent this deadly disease.
Pregnant women who have gum disease may be seven times more likely to have a baby that is born too early and too small.
Bacteria associated with Gum Disease may also be linked to other healthproblems such as osteoporosis, diabetes, strokes and respiratory disease.
If we value your overall health, then we should also value our oral health as well.
Brushing and flossing our teeth at least two times per day can prevent more than just cavities. Visit your dentist at least twice a year to bet an evaluation.
Don’t wait until your teeth began to fall out of your head, before you realize thatyour heart is no longer beating.
Healthy Parents Produce Healthy Children.

Being fit is a way of saying a person eats well, gets a lot of physical activity (exercise), and has a healthy weight. If you’re fit, your body works well, feels good, and can do all the things you want to do (kidshealth.org).
If a parent exhibits an unhealthy lifestyle in front of thier kids, nine times out of ten, the child will acquire the same unhealthy lifestyle.
Drinking lots of water is a great example to set for your kids. Instead of filling your refrigarator with sodas, and highly sweetened juices, purchase bottled water instead. Water and milk are the best choices of fluids for your body.
Water prevents your body from becoming dehydrated, and also aids in cleansing your body from unclean waste materials. Milk helps to build strong bones, muscles, and teeth.
Riding your bike, or participating in physical activies with your children will encourage them to become fit and to stay fit. You and your children will burn more calories by playing a game of soft ball or basketball, than sitting in front of the television, or playing video games for hours.
Everyone loves a sweet treat every now and then. But excessive sugar in any diet is not healthy for our teeth, skin, or our weight. It is always good to subsitute sweets with exotic fruit (kiwi, pineapples, or grapes).
Fast food resturants are producing a lot of overweight adults and overweight children. Instead of the Big Mac, encourage yourself and your child to order a fruit salad.
Healthy Parents will produce healthy children. Afterall, children live what they learn.
Selsum Blue is More than Just Shampoo!

Selsum Blue is known for being the good, “dandruff shampoo.”
However, it is also good for rashes that appear from allergies on various parts of our bodies.
My nine year old son breaks out with a rash each year when the weather is hot. We assumed that he had a mild case of impetago, or something that he inherited from elder family members. We took him to our family doctor in order to find out what was the cause of the rash and break outs.
The doctor recommended that we place Selsum Blue on the rashes for approximately fifteen minutes, before washing it away with warm water. We followed the doctors directions and in less than two days, my sons skin was clear and clean.
Please consult your doctor before trying this at home.

The Thirty Minute Walk
March 30th, 2008 by Janice Chambers
According to Good House Keeping Magazine, taking roughly 10,000 steps per day sets off a chain reaction of physical benefits, including lower blood pressure, reduced risk for heart disease and better odds for preventing breast cancer.(March 30, 2008, goodhousekeeping.com.)
Walking is also an excellent way to reduce stress. Taking those extra strides each day allows you some personal time to think, sort things out, and to clear your head.
Ten thousand steps per day are equal to one hour of walking time each day. Sometimes it is easier to take the thirty minute walk in the morning and the other thirty minute walk in the afternoon or evenings. Nevertheless, with each step that you take, you are adding years to your life.
I enjoy taking walks in the evenings after a long day at work. I take the early evening hours to walk around our block at least four or five times. Many times during my walk, I will meditate, and distress from the former events of the day. Thinking on positive things, and deleting the negative things always give my walk time an extra boost.
As a former patient of hypertention and hypothyroism, I strongly reccommend taking the thirty minute walk for the obvious health reasons. I feel ten years younger since I have made a committment to do the thirty minute walk.
Be good to yourself, take those steps to live , enjoy and to add years to your life.
