RESTORE YOUR SKIN’S RADIANCE

Redness and broken capillaries can intensify in the warmer months. UV rays and the sun’s heat can cause a rush of blood to the face, which can place stress on the capillary walls. Wear sunscreen every day and use skin care which calms and strengthens the skin. You need to watch what you eat and drink because spicy food and alcohol especially can have the same effect as the sun, leading to redness and broken capillaries.

QUENCH THIRSTY SKIN

Salt or chlorinated water can quickly dehydrate skin, leaving it fragile. Rinse both face and body under the shower after every swim, then moisturize all over. If you are heading back out into the sun, include a fresh application of sun screen.

Exfoliate regularly to slough dry, dead cells and improve the skin’s ability to absorb hydrating creams. Pay attention to elbows, knees and ankles, and the back of upper arms, all of which are prone to rough skin.

RESTORE RADIANCE

If your skin is looking dull, check your diet, as this could be due to a lack of iron. Regular exercise will add luminosity to the skin, but, in the meantime, get plenty of sleep, exfoliate regularly and opt for radiance-enhancing  skin care.

Oily Skin No More

As much as we adore summer’s vacation vibe, there can be drawbacks.

Skin tends to be oilier in the summer months because sebaceous glands become more active when it is warmer. You are also perspiring more, which spreads oil across the face more quickly.

Don’t simply cleanse more in a bid to mop up the oil. You will exacerbate the problem by dehydrating your skin, which in turn triggers even more oil production. Instead, switch to a gentle cleanser that will rebalance and use mattifying skin care that regulates oil flow. Avoid powder and heavy foundations that can become patchy in the heat. Instead, try a tinted moisturizer with sunscreen for a sheer, natural cover and use oil-blotting papers through the day to banish shine.

Ensure you cleanse every night and exfoliate weekly if your skin is clogged with break-outs and blackheads. Try the microhydrabrasion, which is a deep cleansing, exfoliating treatment, which combines diamond microdermabrasion with a soothing flush of water and aloe vera.

Skin is hydrated and calmed as it is exfoliated and clarified. It is left decongested, clear and refined. Apply a good anti-blemish product daily to help reduce congestion and heal break-outs.

Remember beauty isn’t about being supermodel-svelte.

Beauty Foods for Inner Health and Outer Radiance

WALNUTS

Long associated with beautiful skin, most nuts are rich in the fat-soluble anti-oxidant vitamin E and an excellent source of the good oils. Walnuts offer something more in that they contain the highest amount of the plant Omega-3s called alpha linolenic acid (ALA), which may help to reduce the severity of inflammatory skin conditions.

Try this: Add sliced Granny Smith apples and walnuts to a green salad and whip up a light dressing with low-fat Greek-style yogurt.

PROBIOTIC YOGURT

As well as the calcium for strong, glowing teeth and healthy bones, yogurt is also a good source of zinc, an essential mineral needed for healthy nails and hair, which is popping up in regenerating moisturizing creams. It is the probiotics or active ABC cultures that make yogurt and yogurt drinks a real beauty. They not only nourish the gut, but skin cells, too.

Try this: Layer luscious summer fruits with thick vanilla probiotic yogurt and flaked almonds, served in a clear glass bowl.

CHIA SEEDS

These seeds are loaded with ALA, the plant source of Omega-3s, and are a powerful source of anti-oxidants, protein, calcium, iron and zinc, and are gluten-free. Also, they absorb more than nine times their weight in water and form a gel that slows digestion and may act as an appetite suppressant.

Try this: Sprinkle a couple of teaspoons on your breakfast cereal, or mix with water, lemon or lime, and a little honey to enjoy a refreshing, thirst-quenching drink called chia fresco.

Make Cellulite the Least of your Problems

Stop stressing over your cellulite. You can make it appear less of a problem in just a few weeks. The key is to boost circulation and detoxify your body. Follow a healthy diet and aim for at least three cardiovascular workouts per week. Drink plenty of water (at least two liters a day) and go easy on alcohol, tea, coffee and junk food. Consider a two-week detox plan with meals comprising one serve of lean protein, such as grilled fish, lean beef or organic chicken, and plenty of fresh vegetables.

Stop smoking. Among other things, it dramatically restricts circulation and directly contributes to the problem, causing dull, grey, mottled skin.

Employ clever skin care tactics. Daily body brushing exfoliates the epidermis, allowing toxins to be released through the skin via sweat. It also boosts circulation.

Finish every shower with a cold water rinse to tone skin and boost blood flow. Once dry, massage in a quality cellulite cream to help address the problem.

An all-over golden glow to the skin can help minimize a multitude of body insecurities, even making cellulite appear less obvious. The only safe option is faking it. Try a daily moisturizer with a hint of tanner. it will give you an all-over sun-kissed look that deepens with each application. Results are virtually foolproof, as the formulas absorb quickly and dry within minutes.

What is Causing Body Odor?

Body odor usually results when a person sweats heavily. Some areas in our body have more sweat glands like our armpits and groins. Our sweat does not actually smell but it is the bacteria in our skin that causes the smelly odor.

Sometimes, the cause of the problem is not in our bodies. Wearing clothes and underwear for a long time can harbor sweat and bacteria and can make you smelly. It will help therefore if you change your clothes and underwear every day. Make sure that the clothes you are going to wear are dry. Clothes that are a bit wet can be odorous as well.

Before putting on your clothes or uniforms, make sure that your body is totally dry as extra water may go to your clothes and can cause a funny smell. Putting on your pair of socks even if your feet are still wet can cause malodorous feet. Make sure that your socks and shoes are also dry because if you wear them wet for sure you will fill up the air with an unpleasant smell when you remove your shoes. Wet feet can also be a good environment for fungi to grow and can cause bad smell aside from itchiness.

If you think you stink, despite above measures, check the food that you eat. Some spicy food as well as onions and garlic may affect your odor. Smoking can also cause unpleasant smell.

When you think you have unpleasant smell, colognes and perfumes can be handy. Remember though that they will only mask the smell for a certain period of time and you need to really check what’s causing your body odor. If the smell is persistent, you can go to a physician for a medical consultation regarding diseases that can cause body odor.

Keep Yourself from Having Body Odor

Being labeled as someone with body odor can be devastating to a teenager. It can be a source of embarrassment, isolation and low self-esteem

Body odor usually results if one sweats heavily. Some areas in our body have more sweat glands like our armpits and groins. This is the reason why after a heavy exercise, our t-shirts have wet marks in the areas of our armpits. Our sweat does not actually smell but it is the bacteria in our skin that causes the smelly odor.

To avoid body odor, it is important to take a bath every day to stay clean and smell good. This includes shampooing your hair as well. After engaging in an activity that makes you perspire, it is advisable to shower to avoid body odor. YOu may also use an underarm deodorant or anti-perspirant. A deodorant masks the smell while anti-perspirant decreases the production of sweat. They are usually combined in one container. If you do not have a funny smell in you underarm, you don’t need these.

Sometimes, the cause of the problem is not in our bodies. Wearing clothes and underwear for a long time can harbor sweat and bacteria and can make you smelly. It will help therefore if you change your clothes and underwear every day.

WORK IT WHILE YOU WATCH IT!

Wouldn’t it be lovely if you could melt away that unwanted lard, all from the comfort of your lounge? Well, using your down time in front of your television is just once great way you and your family can blast away that belly fat. Here are some small, easy ways to achieve big weight loss:

1. COUCH PUSH-UPS. Find a piece of the couch for resistance or, to work harder, hit the floor, and see who can  do the most push-ups during one ad.

2. HIGHER GROUND. if you have stairs, see how many you can run up and down in the course of an ad break.

3. PASS THE REMOTE. Lie on the floor on your back and start cycling your legs with the remote in your right hand. Every five cycles, pass the remote to your left hand and then swap back.

4. HUMAN CHAIR. Stand with your back firmly against the wall, then walk your legs out to form a “human chair.” See who can stay there for a whole ad.

R.I.P. OFF FAT! (RESISTANCE IN PEACE)

* Lie on your back, place a cushion and squeeze together, or place some laundry between your thighs and squeeze.

* Pushing from the heels, lift your hips and bottom until you have a straight line between your knees and shoulders.

* Slowly lower your body, letting  your bottom just lightly touch the floor. Do 12-15 repetitions.

TIPS TO PREVENT DRUG CONTAMINATION

Patients should know how to store their medicines properly. Many medication errors  occur due to the improper storage of drugs and even the mislabeling of drug containers. To prevent medications from losing their potency or to prevent them from becoming contaminated if placed in wrong containers or under improper storage conditions, observe the following tips:

* Keep medicines at room temperature in a dark, dry place. Some medicines require special storage conditions. Check with the pharmacist.

* Keep medicines away from direct sunlight. The heat may cause the tablets to deteriorate or crack. Drugs may lose their potency as a result.

* Some medicines may be stored in a refrigerator. However, check first with your pharmacist.

* Keep medicines in their original containers. Always keep the labels intact.

* Avoid using eye drops that have been opened for more than a month.

Always check the expiration dates of medicines before using them. While some medicines can last for years, others may only last for months. Expiry dates, however, should be conspicuously written on the labels or packages of medicines. Do not use medications that exhibit the following physical appearance:

* Chipped, cracked, discolored or powdery tablets

* Hardened, separated, discolored ointments or creams

* Thickened and/or discolored liquids

* Sticky, softened and cracked capsules

DRUG SAFETY AWARENESS

The patient, who is the most important member of the healthcare team, should also be actively aware of what has been prescribed for him. He should be able to understand the importance of the medication and how it will affect his health. To truly benefit from the medication, the patient should ask the doctor or pharmacist the following:

* The name of the medicine, its use, and how it will treat or relieve his ailment.

* The dose of drug and the duration of treatment.

* If there are any special instruction in taking the drug (such as for chewable tablet, sublingual tablet, vaginal tablet, or suppositories); or if it has to be taken before or after a meal.

* Any food, drinks, other drugs (especially over the counter medicines) that should be avoided while taking the prescribed drugs.

* Possible side effects that may be encountered while using the drug, and what should be done in case these unwanted effects occur.

* Proper drug storage.

It is also very important that the patient informs his doctor of the following:

* Allergy to other medications

* Other diseases present

* Name of the medicine the patient is presently taking

* If pregnant or if considering to become pregnant

* Problems encountered while taking the prescribed medicine (The doctor may then prescribe another drug. The doctor must be informed first before the patient discontinues or changes the medicine.)

HIT-AND-MISS DIAGNOSIS OF IRIDOLOGY

Iridology is the study of the iris to determine potential health problems a person may have. It is said to have practiced by the ancient civilizations of India, Egypt, and China, where healers and priests made health diagnoses based on the condition of the iris. Medical science recognizes that certain symptoms of nonocular diseases can be identified by looking at the eye. Referral is then made for further examination and probably treatment by the appropriate specialist.

However, iridologists are not trained medical doctors. Medical science does not accept that the iris is connected to certain body parts. Scientific evidence has shown that iridology has shown no diagnostic and/or therapeutic value, so it should be approached with caution.

Iridology as a means of diagnosis is a hit-and-miss technique. Iridology critics also point out that iridology theories were developed based on findings from people who were predominantly blue-eyed. As such, the composition of blue eyes may be the standard for the therapy and thus brown eyes and other eye colors could be prone to misinterpretation of findings.

Since iridology has not proven to be an effective treatment method, iridology findings should not be solely relied on for medical diagnosis and treatment. In no way should it be substituted for conventional medical procedure. If the iridologist finds anything that should merit concern, seek a second opinion, but with a medical doctor!
