Walking is an exercise. It is very easy to do. It is painless but is really a powerful form of exercise. A person can burn at least one hundred calories for every mile he walks. One hundred calories may not sound that much but adding it up each time you walk will increase it dramatically.
Walking is an ideal exercise but it should be under an ideal walking program too. The ideal walking program is consist of at least fifteen to twenty minutes walk and at least three times a week. However, to gain the maximum benefits of this exercise, a person should involve the whole body and not just drag the feet off the floor. Involving the whole body includes bending the elbows, flexing the hips and torso and relaxing the chest and the shoulders. Steps should be brisk and comfortable but in a challenging way. You can walk to your work if possible. Less expenses for the fare though you have to start early. You can also walk the mall- wide establishments you enjoy spending your time for your shopping. But try controlling your urges to do a lot of spending. You are there to walk for your health. Remember, you have to put on some speed because the faster you walk, the faster you burn your calories.
