Need some ideas for a romantic Valentine’s Day on a tight budget? Check out these ideas and see if any might work for you and your loved one!

Plan a romantic indoor picnic.

What you’ll need:
candles
Blanket
flower petals (does not need to be rose petals– have a garden, or know someone who does?? Pick a couple of pretty flowers and use the petals to toss around the blanket)
music

Make some delicious munchies like brownies, cut up some fresh fruit and add whipped cream, have some crackers and sliced cheese, cold cuts, cold pasta salad, or whatever else you think of.

Don’t forget wine, champagne or wine coolers if desired. To make wine last longer, mix your own cooler. Blens some wine, red juice (makes the drink more Valentine-oriented), and some ice.

Write a poem and read it while enjoying the picnic. If you have a frame laying around–frame your poem as a Valentine’s day gift/memento.

Rent a romantic comedy from the library and enjoy it after or during the picnic.

Empty bottle of wine–use it for a sexy round of “Spin the Bottle” .

To end the night, have small chocolates on bed pillows and provide a wonderful massage complete with scented lotion.

Taking care of our skin is a major concern for many of us. We watch all the commercials, read all the ads, and try to figure out what will help our skin look and feel it’s very best.

Here are some tips to keep in mind when it comes to your skin and skin care:

1. Avoid cleaning your face with cleansers that produce a lot of foam and suds. The reason? Because all those suds probably means the cleanser contains a harsh detergent, like lauryl sulfate, that strips skin of vital lipids. Use gentle cleansers that have fatty acids. These will help fortify your skin. Try using a cold cream to clean your face even. And for very dry skin, try cleansing oils.

2. Don’t forget Retinol. This really helps with lines–both prevention of them, and in minimizing ones you have. You can visit a dermatologist, or even us over the counter versions. These may not be as strong as prescriptions from a dermatologist, but can still help quite a bit.

3. Skip the facials. Studies show that there are really no long term benefits to those expensive facials we love to indulge in. In fact, as many as 80% of people break out after a facial. Often the wrong ingredients for someone’s skin may be used and worsen conditions such as acne. Better to use the facial money for some effective retinol.

4. Use sunscreen everyday. Best thing you can do for your skin’s health, even if you think you don’t need it. Taking kids to school, running errands, walking to your mailbox–all are ways sun will affect your skin. So make sure you’re covered with at least SPF 15, every day.
