Have you tried the awesome hot apple cider at Starbucks?

8 ) Caramel Apple Crack at Starbucks

I don’t know if the Starbucks in China has this, because I was too busy slurping up all the real-bean coffee and then getting the jitters. I don’t know what’s in it, either. I asked Stick and he thinks maybe it’s sunshine and rainbows and highly addictive chemicals.

Note: This is not a paid advertisement, but if Starbucks would pay me I would totally advertise the Apple Crack. In fact, I’d even call it by its proper name.

Little sleep is not healthy

I’m sick of having to stay up till 4 or 5 am every night to write these papers! I’m in graduate school and boy am I put to work. Over the past few weeks I’ve written about 4 papers and am currently working on a 20 page one. I’m so exhausted.

I don’t even want to give up yet. I just want to go go go like a train until its done. When its done I’m going to sleep for like two weeks straight.

But being a mom, I have other responsibilities too. For example, I was up at 4am last night, or this morning I should say, nursing my son’s 102 degree fever!

And me being so occupied with school work, I can’t even take care of him now! My parents are watching him and it saddens me that I can’t even be with my son tonight, especially when he’s sick and needs breastmilk.

This isn’t healthy. I can’t wait till the semester is over and my responsibilities (school-wise) have been fufilled.

Thanksgiving Meal

Today when you lift your fork and pile the food on your plate, think about what you’re putting into your mouth. Be health conscious, even on this day. It doesn’t mean passing on the gravy, the stuffing or the pumpkin pie. It simply means reducing what you eat and only eating until you’re full.

Have only one slice of pie and don’t make it huge. Only have a tablespoon of gravy rather than a ladle full. Try and skip the bun all together, or go for a whole wheat one instead.

Make choices that are best for your health.

Review: Hair Milk

Carol’s Daughter sells some awesome hair products for African American hair. I’ve been hearing quite a buzz from the ladies at Cafe Mom so I decided to give it a try. I’m pretty satisfied. First of all, the scent is strong, but I like it. I like the all natural ingredients and I like how it leaves my baby’s hair still feeling natural. If you’ve ever tried other products, most are oily and the pink stuff is bad for hair as it strips it of moisture. So I reccommend trying this product.

It could be healthier

Every single food on this planet that is considered unhealthy can be made healthier! You have to switch it to whole grains, fresh veggies and fruits, lean meats and 2% cheese, and good fats. Its not hard to do. Here are some examples:

French fries deep fried: Change to sweet potatoe fries cut up and baked
Ketchup: Buy reduced sugar ketchup instead
Burger: Grill it instead of frying it. Use lean ground turkey and place on a whole wheat bun. Only use one bun.
Hot dog: Use 100% beef, lean, or turkey dogs
Chicken salad: Don’t use canned chicken. Use lite mayo
Waffles: Buy kashi waffles and use sugar free syrup. Top with fresh fruits.

See, there are ways to reinvent every single food, using healthy ingredients instead!

Everyone who is attending Thanksgiving lunch brings something. Such examples are rolls, or chips, or the pie, or ham. My job is to buy and prepare a salad. I love salads so I will enjoy this job. This is what I’m thinking of making: Oh and I’m not the type of person to just bring the typical whatever, I always have to make my dish SPECIAL and unique, and most of all, healthy.

The salad will have these ingredients:
Romaine lettuce, chopped (not big hunks)
baby greens
spinich leaves
grape tomatoes or chopped
chopped celery
shredded carrot
mozerella chunks
sunflower seeds
cucumber slices (English)
And maybe some fruit like grapes or apples

I’ll have these dressings: Ceasar, Italian, Balsamic Vinegarette, Greek Goddess, Ranch
