Effectiveness of Low-Carb

Do low carb diets really work? I think it depends on if you are willing to make low carb a lifestyle. Many people go on Atkins, South Beach, or the Sonoma diet and expect to lose weight rapidly. Many people consume fewer than 20 grams of carbs on these diets. They do lose weight quickly. The problem comes when it is time to come off the diet once they have shed all the weight they want to lose. If a person comes off the diet and starts to eat pasta, bread, and rice then they should expect to gain a considerable amount of their weight back. But if you can continue to limit the amounts of carbs you take in a day, then your weight should stabilize and you should maintain most of your weight loss.
