Eat Foods That Reduce Hunger

June 21st, 2008 by J G

Here’s a simple tip that can promote weight loss. Eat filing foods that are low in calories. Simply put, if your stomach feels full, you’ll eat less. You can easily fill up on fruits and vegetables. It’s a win-win situation because you’re also getting nutrients as you lose weight. The process of filling up on low density foods is called volumetrics. An example of this would be having soup and a salad before a meal. This way you won’t be too hungry during your main course so you’ll eat less of the heavier high caloric food. A general rule of thumb with volumetrics is the foods you load up on should contain air, water or fiber. These foods will stretch out the stomach and cause it to empty slower. Also, seeing a lot of food will have a psychological effect. So if you if you place a large amount of fruit in front of yourself to eat, in your mind you’ll feel that you don’t need to eat much else and you may start feeling full just from the sight of it. This is a more reliable form of dieting because you are allowed to fill your stomach. So you won’t feel like you’re depriving yourself. Other lean foods that can quickly fill you up include fish, poultry, soybeans, and eggs. You can also try stews, smoothies, and low-fat dairy products. Get creative and you won’t even feel like you are dieting.
