Apple Cider Vinegar

I personally do not like the taste of apple cider vinegar…however, the health benefits are amazing. If you would like to loose weight then this is something that you may just want to try. Having just a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar will help you with your weight lose. But you have to make sure that you get the good stuff…Bragg is the best in my opinion. You just have to make sure that the “mother” is at the bottom of the bottle. Do not just get the kind that you find in the regular stores because they don’t have the same health benefits. I sometimes put it with a little grape juice and I always have a spoonful of honey afterwards.

As I mentioned in a previous post, there are some benefits from drinking a glass of red wine, but the most important thing to remember is moderation. But did you know that there really is a specific time of the day when it is better to drink alcohol than others. Well if you have a alcoholic beverage make sure it’s between the hours of 5 pm and 6pm. The reason being your liver can metabolize alcohol more efficiently and can detoxify your body the quickest during this time.

The Thirty Minute Walk
March 30th, 2008 by Janice Chambers
According to Good House Keeping Magazine, taking roughly 10,000 steps per day sets off a chain reaction of physical benefits, including lower blood pressure, reduced risk for heart disease and better odds for preventing breast cancer.(March 30, 2008, goodhousekeeping.com.)
Walking is also an excellent way to reduce stress. Taking those extra strides each day allows you some personal time to think, sort things out, and to clear your head.
Ten thousand steps per day are equal to one hour of walking time each day. Sometimes it is easier to take the thirty minute walk in the morning and the other thirty minute walk in the afternoon or evenings. Nevertheless, with each step that you take, you are adding years to your life.
I enjoy taking walks in the evenings after a long day at work. I take the early evening hours to walk around our block at least four or five times. Many times during my walk, I will meditate, and distress from the former events of the day. Thinking on positive things, and deleting the negative things always give my walk time an extra boost.
As a former patient of hypertention and hypothyroism, I strongly reccommend taking the thirty minute walk for the obvious health reasons. I feel ten years younger since I have made a committment to do the thirty minute walk.
Be good to yourself, take those steps to live , enjoy and to add years to your life.

We all lead stressful lives and stress is not good for our health, it actually helps weaken our immune system. My small little tip for everyone out there is to take a few seconds a day and just breathe. You can do this at your desk in the car, wherever you are feeling stressed. Take in a few deep breathes and let them out. You will be amazed at how this little exercise can refocus all your negative energy to positive energy. Also if you are feeling really stressed and angry take those deep breathes and count to ten in the process.
An Easier Colon Cancer Test?

Hate the idea of getting a colonoscopy? In a few years you may not have to endure one. A simple blood test may eventually replace this dreaded test.
Researchers have found that the blood proteins colon-cancer-specific antigen-3 (CCSA-3) and CCSA-4 were in every patient with colon cancer and even in most with patients with polyps that are on their way to becoming colon cancers.
Somehow these proteins, which appear to be cast off from cancer cells, find their way into the bloodstream where they can easily be detected and measured. These proteins do not appear to be in the blood of healthy subjects.
Durado Brooks, MD, MPH, director of prostate and colorectal cancers for the American Cancer Society, notes that everyone who tests positive on the blood test would then need a colonoscopy and calls the new findings “very encouraging, but very early.”

Healthy Lifestyles Include Regular Exercise

Regular physical activity builds endurance, improves fitness, and promotes an overall sense of well-being. Even A good brisk walk every morning or evening will release feel-good endorphins, which will just make you feel and look healthier. You will get your blood flow moving, and will help your system get rid of toxins in it. And, the more muscle you have, the faster your body burns calories. Work towards getting an half-hour of moderate physical activity five times a week. Exercise is essential if you want to be healthy. It can lower cholesterol levels, and lower your risk for heart disease.
If you haven’t been exercising or been active lately, start slowly and work up to your goal. It is always a good idea to check with your doctor as well before starting any exercise regimen.

A New Test For Cervical Cancer

There is a new screening test for detecting precancer of the cervix. According to the New England Journal Of Medicine, It is supposed to be twice as sensitive as the Pap Smear, which doctors have traditionally used to screen for cervical cancer. You may want to ask your doctor at your next check-up about the test, which is called the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Test.
Since cervical cancers can often be treated successfully if caught early, women should be vigilant when it comes to early screening. The HPV Test uses machines that scan cells taken from the cervix for the DNA of the cancer-causing strains of the Human Papilloma Virus.
And compared to the 44.6 percent error rate of the Pap Test, the chance for error with the HPV Test is only 5.4 percent. Early detection of precancerous cells in the cervix is extremely important for women; while HPV is fairly common in sexually active women, and is often fought off by the immune system, a positive test result will alert you and your doctor so that you can be carefully monitored and further testing can be discussed with you and your doctor.
Protect Your Teeth

One may not classify this as a healthy living tip, but I feel it is. After all you only have one set of teeth after your permanent teeth come in and you should do whatever it takes to keep them clean and keep them healthy. One tip that people may not know is you should hold off on brushing your teeth 30 minutes to an hour after you have eaten or drank something lemony or full of critic acid. This can wear down the enamel on your teeth. The best thing to do is rinse your mouth with water or drink a glass of milk. Milk is a neutralizer and is also good for keeping your teeth strong.
